And, great people all around! So enjoyed being with this great group of people as they attended the Africa Team Missionary retreat this past week in Kenya. We had so much fun–and heard from the Lord as He spoke through the teaching of Doug and Margie Newton. We’re so thankful for each one who serves here in Africa..and trusting the Lord will continue to
Don't these people look like they'd be fun to be with? THEY WERE!
fill them up as they pour themselves out for His Kingdom!
Yesterday a few of us braved the traffic and headed over to Mathare to help with their Saturday Kid’s program. It was fun to see the kids again..and to see the new, bright paint job…! (Thanks Dr. Al & Delores!) The students and the church members are very happy to have a “bright” building to study/worship in!
The lesson was on listening to the VOICE of the Shepherd…and following him. Pray for these kids…they will hear many voices in their lifetime..and we want them to listen to the voice of the Shepherd that knows them and calls them by name!
Thought I should add a few words about last weekend before adding more pics… 🙂
Last weekend I traveled, along with 9 other women and two babies, from Karen to the beautiful area of Kericho for the FMC Kenya Women’s Conference. Kericho is about 5 hours west of Nairobi—on a good day–and without diversions (detours). 🙂 There was a major diverson that left us all a bit jittery and bouncy…because the road was so bumpy (washboard!)..but we finally made it –for which we were all thankful for! Kericho is known for it’s tea–and it’s rain..and we were greeted by both. The hilly road leading up to the church was a slick, muddy mess..and if you know me, you know that I don’t do mud! But, since I had women and babies and luggage that needed to get to the church, against my better judgement..I tried driving the van up the hill. No go. About a 1/3 of the way up, we all knew this wasn’t going to work. So, w/some manuvering and sliding backwards and deep breaths, we managed to get back down the hill with no damage to the van or the passengers. The driver however, (me)..experienced some trauma! (just kidding, I’m fine!).
Thankfully, that was the only drawback of the weekend. The conference went very very well and we all enjoyed being together. There were five of us “Muzungu” (foreigners/whites) women teaching..and about 200 hundred of our Kenyan women singing and dancing and all in all, having a great time. God was faithful and we were all blessed. Thanks for praying!!
Have a great weekend!
Why is Mike looking like this???
What?? Really?? You're not kidding?!?!
Because he just found out that our very good friends, Daniel (ICCM National Coordinator/Kenya, and his lovely wife Grace, had a set of twins….a girl and a boy—and named them Vickie and Mike! What a surprise…and what a blessing for their family!
Meet Vickie and Mike, with Vickie and Mike and the parents, Daniel and Grace Shanzuh! What a fun blessing!
We were totally surprised and humbled and honored and blessed–all at the same time. We love the Shanzuh family–and are rejoicing with them over these two new blessings. May the Lord keep all of them, Daniel and Grace; siblings Jennifer and Patrick…and now vickie and Mike..in His loving care!
Mike meets Mike!
